Review of 21 Day Fix Extreme Day 12: Cardio Fix Extreme

Day 12: Cardio Fix Extreme

Today was Day 12 of 21 Day Fix Extreme which meant I got the joy of doing Cardio Fix Extreme again. It also meant pretty much doing leg day two days in a row! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! (Okay just in case you didn't notice, that was sarcasm.)

Yesterday, I thought my legs were going to be pretty sore today, but they aren't! I am very happy about that. When my legs are sore, it makes climbing the stairs to the break room difficult and the guys all want to know why I can't walk. Normally, I just blame it on a hike, but since we haven't been hiking due to the weather, I can't really blame it on a hike. Now, I try to laugh it off and say, "You don't want to know the answer tot hat question!" It's working, but it's best to just avoid the questions. I'm so not talking to them about my workouts. No way!

Okay so back to day. Cardio Fix Extreme is a bunch of squatting and jumping. In between the squatting and jumping there is also running in place, high knees and burpees! Although, burpees might count as part of the squatting and jumping because you go down into a squat to get your hands on the floor and you jump after the burpee. Anyway......this workout is hard.

I did improve on some things from last week, and I'm pretty happy about that. I managed to get through the two 30 second rounds of jumping jacks. The first one was very hard to get through, but I did it. After I got through the first one, I decided to try to get through the second one, but Fast Feet is right before the jumping jacks. My heart was going crazy fast. I paused the DVD to let my heart rate come down because I didn't want to die trying to get through 30 seconds of jumping jacks. I think I paused it for about 30 seconds and I survived the jumping jacks!

I also improved on the butt kick move. I managed to stay up on my toes for the entire minute both times. I can't say that my form was good and I can't say that I enjoyed myself, but I stayed up on my toes and I'm taking that as improvement.

I still screwed up the Clean and Lunge thing. For some reason, I just naturally put the weight in the hand on the same side as the leg that is lunging back, but in the second round, I usually figure out that I'm doing it wrong. I stuck with it though because if I didn't, it would have meant working one arm or leg twice so I said screw it and just kept going. I also forgot to do the jump in the burpees and by the time I realized that they were jumping, I was too tired to bother jumping.

I only have to do this workout once more during this round! I am soooooooo excited about that! These are great workouts, but they are really hard and they just aren't really all that fun. I'm trying to be excited over how well I can handle what I can handle in these workouts, but I just hate jumping. Without all the jumping it could be more fun. It's not the being out of breath that I hate, although that isn't all that fun, but as a big chested chick, jumping just sucks! I'm pretty sure it's time to invest in another bra and maybe that would help, but there's only so much you can do with a bra. Some duct tape might be beneficial though.

Polar M400 Screen Shots

Here are the screen shots. I hate seeing that 9% calorie burn, but in my new low carb lifestyle, I don't put much emphasis on any of the numbers anymore. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I still like seeing that 526 calorie burn because that puts me on track for 1000 calories in an hour, but since I have an elevated heart rate right now, I don't think the calorie burn is very accurate either since it probably thinks I was running like 20 mph for 30 minutes, but I wasn't. I'm surprised it hasn't told me that I'm dead yet since my heart rate keeps going over my maximum heart rate.

  1. Good job! It sounds like you did awesome and really pushed yourself. Last year we had a March Madness Wellness program and most of my co-workers participated. It was a fun challenge and we all supported and motivated each other. It made the workplace more fun!

    1. Thanks! This definitely was a crazy workout. The March Madness Wellness program sounds fun. It's always nice when your co-workers are supportive of health and wellness. My boss still brings me chocolates that I then have to pawn off on the guys in the shop while my boss isn't looking so I don't offend him. I feel bad, but not bad enough to eat all of that sugar!
