Rockin Body Day 11: House Your Body

Day 11: House Your Body

Day 11 of the Advanced Calendar was House Your Body. It was one of the two upgraded workouts for the program. It was my first time doing this workout. It was much faster than the other workouts and the moves were a little more complicated. I had to remind myself that even professional dancers look like idiots when they are learning a new routine. The first section and third sections went well for the most part, but the middle section was pretty much a train wreck for me. I'm really not sure what was going on for me, but I just could not seem to follow the middle section. I'm looking forward to trying it again to see if I have an ah-ha moment where it all just clicks and I do it right. It's not on the calendar again for another week. This workout used the weighted wrist bands, but I didn't have them, so I didn't use them. I didn't need them either. My shoulders were on fire from this thing. The next day my shoulders hurt worse than they ever hurt during any Body Beast shoulder workout. I was simply amazed. They seriously hurt for two days. I could still feel it on day 3, but it wasn't too bad by then. Crazy stuff I tell ya!

Polar M400 Screen Shots

Here are the screen shots from my Polar M400 device. Check out that calorie burn from House Your Body. Who would have thought that I would burn so many calories dancing. For the middle section, I wasn't even really dancing. I was kind of wandering around trying to look like I knew what I was doing. Along that same idea, I wanted to mention that if you've got a Polar device and you're overweight, you should definitely do the Fitness Test. I thought the Fitness Test was going to make me get my heart rate up high and then see how quickly it came down, but you just lay down and relax for like five minutes. After that, it does some math and figures out just how out of shape you really are. I have no idea how it does it, but ever since I took the Fitness Test (which I scored badly on), my calorie burns are higher and I reach my daily goal for activity more quickly. The calorie burn now is more inline with what the BodyMedia Device was showing me. Just make sure you take the test periodically though since you're fitness level will improve and you don't want to show a higher calorie burn than you're really burning since you might end up eating too much food.
