Review of Day 38 of Beachbody Les Mills Combat

What I did and why

Today was Day 38 of Les Mills Combat! I'm doing the Warrior program, so today was Power Kata. It's a 45 minute workout. I did it for the first time back on Day 3 of Les Mills Combat. I like to go back and read what I wrote about the workout. My overall comments referred to it as Madness! I also said that I was behind for the majority of the workout. You can read the full play by play of the workout from Day 3

Power Kata

This was my fifth time doing this workout. I get to do it four more times before I'm done with this round of Les Mills Combat. (Notice how I referred to it as this round. That implies I want to do this again. I'm not sure that I've referred to it as this round before. I'll have to read back through the posts later and find out!)

This is my favorite of the workouts that I've done so far. I only have Live 60 and Live 30 left. Well, that's if I don't buy the extra DVDs that come with the big kit. After I do Combat 60 Extreme Cardio Fighter, I often think that it's my favorite, but that's just because it's longer than this one and I can break my vigorous records. I really do like this one better. I love the descending elbows and the downward punch segments. I could live without the bazillion knee strikes that are in that section though. I'm not sure why I love the elbow and downward punch stuff so much, but I really do. It makes me sore in odd places on my back which is always nice, but it'a also a nice change of pace. I really like that this workout has so much stuff going on. There aren't any segments that are really long or mainly focused on one type of moves.

The first time I did this workout, I mentioned something about a ton of squats and lunges. I have no idea what I was talking about because I don't remember any squats in this thing. The lunges aren't regular lunges, and they're kinda fun the way they do them. It's part of the ginga thing. You do a lunge back on the leg and then a kick with the right leg, but it's in this rhythmic type of movement that I really like. I think it's odd that I like it though since it is lunging in a way and I don't do well with rhythmic. LOL! I'm so weird!

I didn't get much sleep last night and I woke up pretty sore this morning from yesterday's Power HIIT workout. I've done Power HIIT five times now and yesterday was the first time that made me this sore! Its probably the most sore that I've been after any of the workouts. I've had this dull soreness and an overall sense of weakness for the bulk of the program, but when I woke up, I thought I was going to need the handicap bar to use the bathroom at work. Turns out that I didn't need the handicap bar, but I can definitely feel the DOMS. Tomorrow is rest day! Woot Woot! I LOVE rest day! I was dragging during this workout. I kept at it, but I really wanted to just sit on the couch or go back to bed! It was hot and I was miserable, but I made it through. I'm pretty happy about that part! Only 22 days left!

I got rid of some of the dips in this one. That makes me happy! I'm not sure how many more minutes of vigorous activity I can get out of this one, but I'm going to try and get 30 the next time I do the workout. That's going to be tough though, but I think I can handle the challenge. Tomorrow is rest day and the day after that is a new workout! Woot Woot! I'm so close to the finish line on this workout program! Then on to PiYo!

Does this sound like something you want to do?

I became a coach so I can get a discount on more programs because I really love how these things are set up. I can go to the store and buy any number of DVDs, but I'm not a trainer and I don't know how to put them all together to form a good program that I won't get bored with. Feel free to check out my blog posts about the workout program before I became a couch too. This blog is all about my journey to lose weight and doing Les Mills Combat is a big part of that right now. If you like martial arts workouts like TaeBo, you'll love Les Mills Combat and I encourage you to check out for yourself.
