iFit 1 Mile Challenge Loviste, Croatia

Today was another day where I wanted to walk instead of work, but I worked. It was also another day where my husband stayed home from work so I got to leave my day job at 3:00 so I got home early to walk. It's nice leaving at 3:00! I wish I could do it every day and come home to walk. Today I wanted to do a flat walk. Yesterday's killer hill just kind of drained my desire to do hills. That coughing lasted pretty much all night. It sucked. When we got home, he started watching something very uninteresting to me, so I put on my headphones. I really wanted to watch America's Got Talent though, so I was a little cranky. I'm not sure why, but I decided to crank it up to 2.5MPH. That's not fast for most people, but it felt very fast for me and it's that point where I wonder if the machine is gong to die on me. I feel like I almost wanted it to die so I would have an excuse not to keep walking. I wanted to walk, but I was cranky and I didn't want to cranky walk.

Anyway, I started doing my countdown around the three minute mark. I'm dead serious. I got to .10 miles and was like on one-tenth done! I can do this. Then I got to .25 and I was like this sucks. My back hurts. My shin hurts and I'm still cranky. At some point I realized I wasn't going to get off the machine before the next episode of boring happened so I was going to be stuck watching this after I was off the treadmill. That got my more cranky which made walking suck more. My count downs were like, in two minutes, I'll be halfway done. In 1 minute, I'll only have 10 minutes left. Once I hit the 10 minute mark, it was less than 9 minutes! Less than 8-1/2 minutes, less than 8 minutes, less than 7-1/2 minutes. You can see where this is going. It got so bad, when I got to 1-1/2 minutes, it was less than 90 seconds, less than 85 seconds, less than 80 seconds. I was so ready to not be on the treadmill. I finished though and the machine didn't die. Now I'm wondering if it's my position on the treadmill that's the real issue. I stayed up close to the front of the tread. Maybe it's when I walk further back that it dies. Now I want to experiment with that a bit. Not that I want the machine to die on me, but I want to know what causes it.

I only have one more walk in the 1 mile challenges that are in my calendar that have any elevation, so I think I might experiment with speed while walking up close to the front. Stay tuned for more exciting experimentation. Below, I have the screen shot from iFit for today and the one from the first time I did this walk. The first time, I used the heart rate monitor. the machine has a Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor strap. I don't think I can hook the strap to my phone, but it does work with the machine. I keep forgetting to put it on. I do like using it. It's interesting to see how quickly (or slowly) my heart rate comes down after the hills.

I took more than four minutes off my previous time. I stayed at 2.5 MPH for the entire thing this time, but last time, I started at 2MPH and then worked my way up to 3MPH. I'm pretty sure I wanted to die because I went down to 2.5MPH. In the beginning of this treadmill thing, I would get dead leg. My whole left leg would just be numb and I had little control over it. Going to the chiropractor seems to have cleared that up, but my lower back hurts now. I guess I should go back and see if I can get him to fix that. Interesting that both times were 10 feet even though I did different speeds. It says I burned fewer calories this time. Maybe that burst of 3MPH burned up extra calories.

I didn't hatch any Pokemon Go eggs this time so that was disappointing, but I had hatched one just before I got on here so I needed a full 2KM to hatch it and I only walked a mile so I only got 1.5KM credit. Oh well! That just means more hatching tomorrow. I have to get back to the couch now so another episode doesn't start.
