iFit 2 Mile Challenge Nanternis, United Kingdom

Today is Saturday. I did this walk today. I keep planning a rest day and then I don't rest because I want to experiment. Today, I used different shoes. I've been using my Hoka shoes. They have a rocker bottom. The orthopedic doctor suggested them after I broke my foot. They were my transition show after wearing the boot forever. I never really liked them, but I didn't want to toss them since they were expensive. They became my treadmill shoes. I've tried a lot of other things like loosening the laces, using hiking poles on the treadmill, going to the chiropractor, focusing on my foot placement and changing up my hand positions. I haven't had much success with any of this, so it was time to try changing the shoes.

I picked this walk because there was some elevation in it so I was thinking it wouldn't have much downhill so I didn't think I would be risking the machine shutting down on me. Turns out this started with a 6% decline section, but it looked short enough that the machine wouldn't die. I focused on paying attention to if the machine was slipping. It wasn't, so I kept going. It felt really weird to have normal sneakers on while walking on the treadmill. I felt like I didn't even have any shoes on since the Hoka bottoms are so thick. After a bit, it actually felt good though. These shoes are wide shoes and I loosened up the laces. My feet felt so free. It was nice. I was optimistic.

At the 22 minute mark, my feet hadn't fallen asleep so this was a good sign. At some point, my left foot started to go numb and then the left leg was going numb. My right foot went numb for a very brief period of time. My right leg hurt though. It felt like nerve pain coming from my right hip. My back didn't really hurt during this one. It was a bit strange. Overall, I don't think this was a failed experiment, but it wasn't the answer to all of my prayers either. I do think I need new shoes. I just don't think these shoes are the shoes to wear on the treadmill either. This could be fun trying to find the right pair. Ugh! I think breakfast is almost done so I need to go.
