In a few of my recent walks, I mentioned that I was going to bump up to the 1.5 Mile Challenge after I was done with my 1 Mile Challenge, but I changed my mind! I was looking through the workout library and I found what I had been looking for all these months! I found the video series library! I was so excited when I found this one because it's something totally doable for me and it sounded fun. This is an Easter Island Walking Tour! This guy walks around Easter Island and talks about the stuff there. It's a nice distraction while walking. Today was my first day doing it. I was supposed to start yesterday, but hubby wanted to pick up some ranch dressing on the way home and I always use that as an excuse to not walk when we get home.
I had already looked at the map and knew it was about 160 feet of elevation and it was under a mile. I had planned on doing 2.5MPH for the whole walk. As you can see from the chart below, that didn't happen. This was the first walk where they controlled the speed for me. I've done one of these live video walks before, but they only changed the elevation on me. When I started the walk, I was at 2.5MPH and I got a little button on the screen that said "Follow trainer." I hit the button and it slowed me down to 2MPH. After a few minutes it bumped me up faster and seemed to change a bit at the same time as the elevation. If we went at a higher incline, we went at a slower pace. It was a rather comfortable walk and I liked the changes in speed. I'm usually too lazy to do it. The nice thing too was that the time remaining in the workout was already adjusted to accommodate for the changes in speed so it didn't extend out the time remaining when we walked slower. I would change the speed going uphill more often when I do the slide show type walks, but it extends out the time remaining since it's all based on the speed you're walking and it just doesn't work for my brain to extend that out.
Overall, this guy was entertaining enough. He wasn't Josh Gates, but he wasn't boring either. I don't usually do these video ones because I've never been able to play the audio through headphones. It might be a safety feature, but it's annoying. I'd do more of these, but I'm sure my husband would be annoyed having to listen to them while trying to watch TV over the already loud treadmill and my heavy breathing. There is an option to run an HDMI cable from the machine to the TV. I talked to him about doing that so he could watch the Easter Island video and listen to the guy talk about stuff, but we don't have a cord long enough and it just doesn't seem like we'd ever use it after this if we did buy it. Although, I think this guy needs a nice fat iFit contract to do more of these types of programs.
I've only done this video once so I only have the one pic below. Overall, I really liked it. I look forward to finishing out the series. I think there are only 14 of them.
